We are mourning for Takunda Mafika
On 12th october our fellow colleague and friend Takunda Mafika passed away in Harare, Zimbabwe in consequence of a stroke. On sunday Takus friends from the Global Experience network commemorated Taku and said goodbye to a friend who was not only a teacher and musician, but one of the most passionate and inspiring people we have known.
After his death Takus friends from across the world agreed to work together in order to carry on Takus spirit, music and ambitions. Part of this is also this website that Taku had asked his friend Michal from Poland in may 2011 to create for him in order to promote his music. Takus friends agreed to finish the website after his death in order to create a virtual place where Takus friends from all over the world can come together, to listen to Takus music, share memories and find inspiration to carry on Takus ambitions in social activism.

The Mbira Man
Taku Mafika was a mbira player, teacher, musician and music business consultant. He had an honors degree in music and musicology from the Midlands State University. Taku Mafika taught mbira to individuals, local schools and colleges and has held numerous workshops and performances in Zimbabwe, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Poland and Namibia.
